Centre for the Study of Global Ethics, University of Birmingham2004-05Research Fellow, EC-funded Property Regulation in European Science, Ethics and Law (PropEur) Project. PropEur compiled and analysed new approaches in ethics and law to the governance principally of human, plant and animal genomes. Responsibilities included (i) independent research [see research reference 19]; (ii) day-to-day project management including research and administrative co-ordination of ten partners in seven countries across Europe, conference and workshop organisation, reports to project funders, production of project newsletters and website content, contributing to the writing of research funding proposals; and (iii) lecturing on the Human Rights, Bioethics and Development Ethics modules of the MA in Global Ethics.

Duties included regular liaison with university authorities, the private contractor, Edinburgh City Council and users (academic/administrative units), the training of staff, conducting reviews, report writing and presentations.

Conducted succinct, sensitive and time-efficient rewriting of the work of contributing partners for publications on impoverishment, livelihood, land tenure and related legal issues for policy-makers and practitioners [see research references 24, 25].
